Isaac Bernard Loid Ballance, Jr. was born Feb 24, 1920 in Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. to Isaac Bernard Sr. & Maud Elizabeth Harrison Ballance. "I. B." married 17 year old Veda Graham 2 Nov 1940 at Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar.

July 1, 1941 I. B. registered for the military draft in Sebastian Co., Ar. and on July 13, 1942 in Little Rock, Ar. he enlisted in the US Army as a Private. I. B. had the rank of Sgt, when he left the military. Nothing else is known about his time in the service.

I. B. passed away May 20, 2000. He was buried in the Lavaca City Cemetary in Lavaca, Sebastian Co., Ar. where he had spent his life.

I.B. Ballance, 80, of Lavaca died Monday, May 29, 2000, in his home. He retired as a butcher for Milgrim's Grocery and was an Army veteran of World War II. A member and deacon of First Baptist Church of Lavaca, he taught Sunday school there for 30 years. He is survived by his wife, Veda; one daughter, Julia Simpson of Barling; one son, Thurman Ballance of Fort Garland, Colo.; two sisters, Virgie Cook of California and Evelyn Rambo of Fort Smith; one brother, Royce Ballance of Lavaca; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Funeral will be 2 p.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Lavaca with burial at Lavaca City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Mortuary of Charleston. Pallbearers will be Pete and Wesley Ballance, Stephen Bell, Kirby Barton, Dewayne Glidewell and Danny Cross.
